Your 3 Core Statutory Protections Under Czech Law
A landlord cannot legally hold more than 3 months of base rent. Any amount demanded above this ceiling must be returned immediately upon tenant request, even if signed in the lease.
Under Czech Civil Code, money held as a deposit earns interest. Landlords cannot waive this right by contract. On move-out, you are legally entitled to statutory interest on your deposit.
Tenants are only liable for routine minor repairs up to 1,000 CZK per incident and capped at 100 CZK/m² per year. Major repairs (boiler, wiring, structural) are 100% landlord expense.
